With summertime upon us, it’s time to clean up the patio or deck. This is when we clean up the outdoor furniture so it’s ready for company, and get prepared to enjoy our outdoor space. With that in mind, here are 10 outdoor cleaning tips to help you make the most of your summer.
1. Clean the Grill
Most of us probably don’t do this enough, but it’s important to make sure your backyard grill is clean and ready to sizzle. It’s actually not hard, and can be done in about 15 minutes.
2. Maintain Your Deck or Patio
If you have a wooden deck, you’re going to want to clean it first, then re-stain if necessary. If you have a concrete or paver patio, sweeping and/or a good pressure wash is probably all you need.
3. Clean Furniture
Cleaning your patio furniture is important after it’s been sitting all winter. It might seem like a big job, but it can be done quickly and easily.
4. Wash Windows
You can’t very well observe your new landscaping and nice, clean patio from inside if your windows are dirty. Cleaning your windows from outside can be a big job, but there are plenty of ways to do it right and make it as easy as possible.
5. Spruce Up the Porch
Summertime is the ideal time to make your front porch pop. Start by eliminating any cobwebs around lights and or porch coverings. Sweep away dust. Then you can decorate to your heart’s content.
6. Clean the Garage Door
You might not think it’s dirty, but chances are a good cleaning will make your garage door look tons better. With some simple supplies, a clean garage door will enhance your curb appeal.
7. Clean and Deodorize Trash Cans
Nothing puts a damper on an outdoor party like that funky smell coming from your garbage cans. Here’s how to get them clean and funk-free.
8. Give Your Garage Floor Some Love
The floor of your garage takes a lot of daily abuse. When the weather starts warming up, it’s the perfect time to get it cleaned up. Why? Because a clean garage floor will help your home stay cleaner! See…this guy’s pretty happy about it!
9. Clean Your Gutters
It’s nobody’s favorite job, but this is a great time to make sure your rain gutters can handle those summer thunderstorms. You don’t have to spend all day on it, either!
10. Clear Out Window Wells
If you have window wells (especially uncovered ones), make sure you de-gunk them regularly. Summer is the perfect time to rid window wells of leaves and other debris that finds its way there. Also make sure there is no standing water.
