When you’re putting on makeup, shaving, or simply checking yourself out in the mirror, you don’t need dirty spots and streaks getting in your way. After all, that mirror is all about YOU, right? The problem is, getting your mirrors clean — without streaks — can be tricky. Here is how to get your mirrors sparkling clean and streak-free!
1. Tame Trouble Spots First
Your bathroom mirror takes a lot of abuse from toothpaste, creams, and hair products. But if you look in your medicine cabinet or under your sink, you’ll likely find the solution: rubbing alcohol. Instead of wiping down your mirror and spreading those toothpaste spots around, eliminate them first with the alcohol. You’ll remove the residue and prevent it from becoming an ugly streak.
2. Use the Right Cloth
There are different things you can use to clean glass: paper towels, an old t-shirt, newspaper. However, the best thing to use for streak-free mirrors is a good quality microfiber cloth. Microfiber won’t get lint on your mirrors because of the unique weave. They also won’t scratch. Microfiber works well with any type of glass cleaner you choose.
3. The Best Solution
If you implement the first two secrets, you might be perfectly happy with the results. However, the best cleaner we have found for mirrors is a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Put it in a spray bottle, shake it up, and spray it on your microfiber cloth instead of the mirror (you’ll avoid drips and back-splashing that way). Get your cloth pretty damp, then clean with a back-and-forth motion. Once you’re done, stand back and enjoy the streak-free view!
