Pssst…I’ve got a little secret for you. Not everything you typically use in your kitchen needs to stay in the kitchen. When it comes to cooking spray, for example, it’s good for a myriad of other non-cookware uses. In fact, you might want to keep a couple of extra bottles around to use for other purposes. Here are 10 “weird” things you can do.
1. De-Squeak a Hinge
Got a squeaky hinge on a door or cabinet? Cooking spray works the same way as that other stuff.
2. Save Your Shovel
Shoveling snow is hard enough without having it stick to the shovel. Spray your shovel with cooking spray first, and it’ll slide right off!
3. Dry Your Nails
Seriously! After painting, spray your nails with cooking spray to dry the polish. Just make sure it’s the oil-based kind, not the butter kind.
4. Blender Blades
Before blending that smoothie, spray the blades of your blender with cooking spray. Cleanup will be much easier.
5. It’s “Grrrrate!”
Before you grate cheese, spray your grater with cooking spray. No more sticky, cheesy mess! You can do the same thing with your knives before chopping.
6. Keep Grass Off Mower Blades
Know how your mower blades get all stuck with grass while you mow…especially if the grass is wet? Spray your blades with cooking spray first, and it’ll slide right off.
7. Clean Shower Doors
Did you know cooking spray is great for loosening up soap scum? Boo-yah!
8. Get Paint Off Your Hands
Been crafting or painting a room? All that paint on your hands is easy to remove with cooking spray. Try it!
9. Keep Plasticware Stain Free
I’m sure you have your share of tomato-stained plasticware. Next time, before putting leftovers away, spray the container with cooking spray and the color won’t stick around.
10. Polish Your Stainless
Cooking spray makes a fantastic polish for stainless steel. No streaks!
