If your family is anything like mine, you’ve got a cupboard or closet full of board games. Aside from just piling them up (and letting them take up valuable storage space), how do you keep them organized? You need to be able to find everything, and then and put them away easily. Here are several different ways to keep those board games neat and organized.
1. Hang Them
Those hanging fabric closet organizers are great for storing board games. Does one of the kids have some space in their closet? Is there a little nook in the laundry or storage room where you could put a rod? If so, these cheap little numbers are a great place to keep games.
2. Keep it Together
I don’t know about you, but at our house, game boxes just don’t last. And that means game pieces and cards everywhere! Solve this problem by putting a big rubber band around every box.
3. Rack ‘Em Up
You know those racks that are meant to keep your pot lids organized? Why not use them for games? If you have a dedicated shelf or game closet, this is a great solution. No more falling boxes.
4. No Room for Boxes?
If you don’t have much space or your boxes get destroyed, you can put each game in its own plastic zipper bag. You’ll easily know which bag holds which game, and you can stack them all in a smaller bin.
5. For Those Card Games
The boxes that cards come in simply aren’t made to last. We usually end up putting a rubber band around the deck, but that still results in lost cards. This genius idea suggests keeping decks of cards in those travel containers meant for bars of soap. They fit perfectly!
6. Plastic Drawers
This is another idea you can use if you have lost or destroyed boxes. Those plastic storage drawers work great for storing games. You can label each one, and then when you want to play, just pull the whole drawer out.
7. Wall-Mounted Shelf
This is a bookshelf from IKEA, but it works great for keeping that big stack of board games in place. And it’s narrow enough to fit on a small wall or inside a closet.
