Got a beloved sweater that just isn’t what it used to be? Maybe you hit a snag. Maybe you thought the bobbles and pilling on your favorite pullover or cardigan were forever. Well guess what? Your favorite cozy sweater is not beyond repair! Learn how to fix these blemishes, so you can keep right on wearing your favorite sweater.

1. “Bobbles” or “Pilling”

Whatever you call it, if your old sweater or thrift-store treasure needs a little facelift, you can do it yourself — fast! All you need are some of those velcro rollers (check the dollar store). You can try a razor too, but one wrong move can do more harm than good. Just lay the sweater on a flat surface and roll the curler on the part that’s pilled (often under the sleeves). Go slowly, and watch it pull those blemishes right off.

2. Sweater Hit a Snag?

Yes you can even fix your own snag! With a couple of simple sewing tools and some good instruction, your snagged cardigan can be good as new. Nobody will ever know you had an ugly snag — promise! Just be sure you get to them quickly, before the weave starts to unravel and your sweater is beyond repair. An awl is the recommended tool, but you can even use a bobby pin or crochet hook.

3. Got a Hole? Darnit!

No really — just DARN IT (see what we did there?). When you hear the term “darning” applied to socks or other garments, this is what they mean. Even if you’re one of those people that doesn’t sew, you can probably learn how to darn. It’s easier than you probably think. Here’s a quick tutorial.
