In organizing your living space, there are some great uses for old trunks. Not only are they charming to look at {especially if you’re lucky enough to have found a vintage trunk!} they are also useful for storage. But what SHOULD you store in a trunk? Today we have some great trunk storage ideas for your space.
Trunks are at their best when they’re pulling double-duty. In other words, if you can use it for more than just trunk storage, all the better! Try using a charming vintage or rustic trunk in your living room. It can store all your extra throw blankets and pillows, and be used as a coffee table at the same time. If you don’t need to store blankets and pillows, use it for all your game night games, heavy books, or family photo albums. There are lots of trunk storage options in a living room!
A vintage trunk is the perfect spot to store all those old family heirlooms and mementos that you want to protect. Precious antiques, grandma’s wedding dress, and other special items are safe inside a trunk, especially if it is lined with cedar. It’s also a good place to store your china!
Of course, trunk storage is a good option for all the kids’ toys. Keep a designated toy trunk in the kids’ bedrooms. It’s easy to get them to pick up their toys and close the lid when you don’t want to see the mess, and the toys are easily accessible when it is play time again.
This is probably my favorite trunk storage idea ever! An office in a trunk lets you keep your office looking chic, while keeping your files close at hand. Such a genius idea! Paint your trunk any color you like to make it match your home office décor.
