- To make your laundry room look a little homier, try using a curtain to cover up the machines when not in use. Just stick a rod in front of them and pull the curtain across when necessary.
- You can also use a rod behind a curtain to have a private drying place for your delicates. Simply hang the rod up, put your wet delicates on it, and then draw the curtain closed.
- For easier access to your hampers, mount them on the wall. You can stack them on top of each other, or if you have the horizontal space, then line them up with each other.
- If there is a small space between your machines or between them and the wall, then add a small little cart. You can put your laundry soap, detergent, and other cleaning supplies on it and then keep it out of the way when not in use.
- For machines that are side by side, add a wooden board across the top of them for a nice addition to your storage. You can use this makeshift counter as a folding station or just a place to keep your laundry supplies.
- Add some hidden laundry hampers to a dresser or other piece of storage furniture in your laundry room. I like this because it looks nice and is also really practical!
- If you don’t have space for a full ironing board, then use a wall-mounted one. It simply hangs from a hook on the wall or door and pulls down when you need it. Ingenious!
- You could also make your own DIY ironing board that fits right on top of your laundry machines! Just pull it out when you need it and then use it on top of your machines!
- Store your cleaning supplies inside cute little jars and containers. Not only does this save on spaces (boxes from the store are usually way too bulky), but you can easily tell when you need more of something.
- Make a wall mount that you can use to store socks with lost partners! Just have little clips on the board and, whenever you find an orphan sock, put it up there until you find its other half.
- You can also have a change jar for when you find coins inside pockets, which will inevitably happen. This can just be on top of one of the machines or be a wall mount as well.
- I think it’s a really smart idea to have some sort of garbage can in the laundry room, if not just for lint and other small items. That way, you don’t have to leave when you need to throw something away.
- Get an over-the-door rack that you can use to store all of your laundry supplies. Just slip your supplies into each pocket or caddy and you’re good to go.
- You can also make an above-the-door shelf that adds storage without taking up any space you were already using. These are great because you can get more space without having to feel more cramped and cluttered.
- If you’re like me, then you probably have no idea what half of the symbols on tags mean. If so, then make this fantastic label chart that helps describe everything so you don’t have to remember it.
- Get an extendable drying rack that you can use in your laundry room. Whether it’s a pull-out or foldable doesn’t matter, as long as it fits in your laundry room and works well.
- If your kids are starting to do their own laundry, then instead of having to tell them how to do it every time, leave instructions on the machines. You can write on it with a dry eraser marker or just leave little stickers.
- If your laundry room is big enough, then a wheeled cart is a great addition to help things be more organized! It makes access a lot easier and adds tons of storage space.
- For those of you with a laundry room on the bottom floor, consider installing a laundry chute. Instead of going from room to room to gather clothes, everyone can just throw theirs down the chute!
- When in a small laundry room, a great way to get organized and have more space is by using up as much vertical space as possible. That means getting shelves and storage units that reach high, even if you have to use a foot stool!
