- Rolling carts in the laundry room are a must. Not only do they keep things organized, but they make them much more accessible as well.
- Hang laundry baskets from the wall for more organization. Designate one type of clothing per basket so you can be more efficient.
- You often have space between your washer, dryer, and the wall, so use that space for shelving! Stick a pull-out shelf to store laundry supplies.
- Floating shelves are also super helpful in the laundry room. They take up barely any space but allow you to store a lot more.
- Take your laundry supplies and put them in Mason jars. This keeps them more organized and they take up less space than in the bulky boxes from the store.
- Pull out drying racks allow you to dry your clothes without trouble at all. And, when you’re not using them, you can just push them back in.
- Install a rod in your laundry room for hanging delicates. You can also attach a curtain in front of it to hide them from view when they’re drying.
- A fold out ironing board not only takes up less space, it also helps you stay more organized and less cluttered. You can attach it to the wall, the back of the door, or wherever works best.
- Wire baskets are a great item for the laundry room. You can store clean clothes, laundry supplies, or pretty much anything else in them.
- Keep a board or bin or something to store orphaned socks. That way, when you find their partner, you know exactly where the other one is.
- I would suggest having a stain kit in your laundry room so you can easily get rid of any stain without having to search for the right product.
- Use hooks and bag to store your laundry. Simply have one hook and bag designated for each type of clothing, and you’re good to go!
- If your laundry room is on the ground floor, then consider a laundry chute. Anyone can throw their clothes down it and it goes straight to the dirty basket. No more collecting hampers. Genius!
- Shelving on the walls is super important Have shelves with rods, hooks, and clips on them so you can utilize as much space as possible.
- To save space, install hampers underneath your counter. Make it so you simply tilt the side and the hampers get exposed. It saves room plus keeps dirty clothes hidden until you wash them.
- If you don’t want a tilt-out hamper, try a pull-out one! You just install it under any counter or cabinet, and then pull out the hampers when you need them.
- I LOVE the idea of a mobile laundry room. It has an ironing board, sprays, folding space, etc. It’s super easy to use and not that hard to build.
- Wicker baskets in cubbies not only look super cute in the laundry room, they also help keep things organized! Designate one type of clothing for each one.
- Keep a trash can in the laundry room. I like a big one for more than just one round of lint. It will help you not put trash on the counter and make things messy.
- If possible, stack your washer and dryer on top of each other. This saves room and makes you not have to bend over as much when doing laundry.
- Use as much of the vertical space in the laundry room as possible. If needed, get a stepping stool, but high vertical storage helps your laundry room stay safer and more organized.
- If your kids do laundry as well, consider writing the instructions on the machines so they don’t have to ask you all the time. This saves both time and clothes!
- Install a counter in your laundry room, if you have the space. On it, you can fold clothes, iron, and even just store laundry!
- Divide your laundry products by their use. Keep all the chemicals and products you use for whites on one side, products for dark clothes on the other, delicates, etc.
- Hang a ladder from the ceiling (if you have the ceiling space), attach hooks to the steps, and then you can hang clothes off these hooks. It’s both cute and practical!
- Put a plank of wood or a shelf on the back of your washer and dryer! This gives you easy accessible storage space for commonly used laundry supplies.
- To make your laundry room a bit more presentable, consider install a curtain in front of your washer and dryer. You can just pull it shut when not in use to make the laundry room look nicer.
- A hanging shoe organizer can be great for storing laundry and cleaning supplies. Just hang it over the door or somewhere else in the laundry room for easy access.
- Hang something off of the back of your laundry room door. This could be a drying rack, iron board, or something else. But that’s a prime spot for storage and organization.
- Use wiring shelving in your laundry room, if possible. This allows for customizability so, if you need to change something, you can easily move the shelves around.
- Keep a change jar around so, when you have some spare change in the laundry, you can start collecting it. You’d be surprised at how much you’ll find over a long amount of time.
- I like to use luggage tags to distinguish my laundry baskets. They’re cute, effective, and help me keep track of what needs to be washed and how.
- Keep a stain chart somewhere in the laundry room so you can easily refer to it if you find some sort of stain. It’s way faster than having to look it up on the computer or your phone.
- Label all the cupboards and drawers in your laundry room. This helps you and anyone else who may be trying to find something in your laundry room.
- Make your very own ironing board pad that allows you to iron on any hard surface. Simply place it on a flat surface and you’re good to iron!

Nice tips 🙂
Not only that putting a plank of wood or a shelf on the back of washer and dryer creates more space for storing things, it prevents things from falling behind 🙂
Also, rolling cart (like rolling laundry basket, on the first or second page) with cleaning supplies is also nice thing to have …
