Steam is a surprisingly useful cleaning tool. You may have seen those steam cleaning machines on informercials, but you don’t need the special equipment to get great results with steam. In fact, if you have a clothing steamer, here’s a list of things you can clean with it.

1. Countertops

If you need to sanitize your kitchen or bathroom countertops (and let’s face it — we all do), your clothing steamer can take care of 99.9% of germs and bacteria on these surfaces. No chemicals needed!

2. Grout

If you’ve got tile floors or a tile shower, you’ve got grout. And you know what that means — dirty lines between tiles. Good thing your clothing steamer is a great way to clean it up. Just move closely along the grout lines to loosen up the gunk, then wipe it clean.

3. Grease

Got a greasy stove or grill? You can use your steamer to clean it right up. The steam will loosen up grease and food remnants, then you’ll be able to brush or wipe it clean.

4. Carpet Stains

If you have spots and stains on your carpet or rug, simply point the nozzle of your clothing steamer at the stain to loosen it up. Then you can use your own cleaner or soft upholstery brush to get it the rest of the way out.

5. Shower Curtains and Doors

Your clothing steamer can be used to steam clean your shower doors and / or curtain. As always, use distilled water in your steamer, and you might want to pre-treat with vinegar first.
