Everyone has dental floss on hand, but you don’t have to use it only for your teeth. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in the importance of regular flossing as much as the next person. But today’s post is about creative ways to use dental floss around the house. You might be surprised at some of the things dental floss can do. Stick around while I show you!
Creative Ways To Use Dental Floss
- Got a craft that requires some string? Don’t run to the craft store if you’ve got floss on hand. Dental floss is strong enough to use for stringing popcorn, Froot Loops or wooden beads for holiday or kids’ craft projects.
- Whenever I make cinnamon rolls, I skip the knife and use a length of dental floss to slice the dough into rolls. A knife tends to smash the rolls but dental floss cuts the dough cleanly with absolutely no smashing. Try it next time you make them! Floss will also cleanly slice hard-boiled eggs and cheese.
- Use unwaxed dental floss in place of kitchen twine the next time you need to tie up a roast. It’s safe and it works just as well.
- Got a tomato plant that is falling over or outgrowing its cage? Use floss to anchor the stems to the cage or to wooden dowel. Tie it loosely so it doesn’t cut into the stems.
- Anytime you lose a button or need a quick wardrobe repair, you can use dental floss in place of thread if it’s handy.
- A window screen with a hole is easily repaired with dental floss. Cut a small piece of screen to cover the hole and use dental floss and a needle to stitch it into place.
- Unwaxed dental floss is a good replacement for wire when hanging pictures. Wire can leave scratch marks on your walls, but dental floss doesn’t.
- Just like floss cleans between your teeth, use it to clean crumbs and other debris from between the keys on your laptop keyboard.
