A lot of people hold onto magazines. After all, I think we all figure there’s something of value there — recipes, articles, coupons, photos for the kids’ projects. The problem is, especially if you have a lot of subscriptions, those magazines tend to pile up and create an unnecessary mess. If you love your magazines but hate the clutter, here are some quick ways to get rid of that magazine clutter before it drives you crazy.
1. The Bundle
Instead of a messy pile of magazines, try bundling that pile with a neat ribbon, belt, or pretty strip of fabric. You’ll turn that eyesore into a display piece, and you can still read them whenever you want.
2. The Obvious
With cheap cardboard magazine holders, you can keep your magazines tightly packed on a shelf. Categorize them however you like, and try covering those holder with contact paper or trimming them in washi tape if you don’t like the way they look.
3. The Rack
Cheap magazine racks can be had at IKEA and other places like Amazon. Or you can easily make them yourself. Create a reading nook with a comfy chair and display your favorite magazines on the wall.
4. The Crate
Even better if the crate has wheels — whether you actually roll it or not! A rustic crate makes a great display for your magazines, and it can hold a lot. Keep it next to your bed for nighttime browsing, or tucked under your coffee table for a tidy but decorative look.
5. The Catalog
You can turn torn magazine pages into a catalog of ideas, articles, and recipes. Remove the pages you want to keep, then gather them up into a binder with sheet protectors and tabs. Categorize them to make it easy to find what you want. It’ll take a little time to get your binder set up, but should be easy to maintain as you add more pages.
