Is it just me, or are bathroom medicine cabinets just never big enough? They’re meant to hold small bottles of — well, medicine — but we usually ask them to store a lot more than that. The bad news is that there’s nothing you can do to make your existing medicine cabinet bigger. The great news is that there are lots of medicine cabinet organization tips to help you maximize the space you do have.
1. Small Drawers
When it comes to medicine cabinet organization, you’re lucky if yours is more of a cupboard than a cabinet, with a little extra depth. If this is you, try a small set of clear plastic drawers. Use these drawers to store small items like ointments, bandages, allergy pills, etc. Make sure each drawer is labeled, and you’ll not only have more storage space, but you’ll always know where things are.
2. Check Dates
When was the last time you looked through your medicines and chucked everything that’s expired? This could save you a surprising amount of space for things you actually need.
3. Prioritize
There may be things you use less often that can be moved toward the back or upper parts of your medicine cabinet. Do you use the rubbing alcohol all the time? If not, it might be better placed elsewhere, like in your bathroom vanity. Keep your medicine cabinet free of clutter by only storing the items you use several times per week, and moving daily items toward the front.
4. Go Magnetic
A magnetic strip placed at the back of your medicine cabinet can really help with organization by holding nail clippers, tweezers, hair pins, and more.
5. Keep it Spicy
Speaking of spicy, you can keep your antacids in here, too! You know those in-cabinet organizers that hold the little spice bottles? These can work in your medicine cabinet too. Use the stair style that lets you see everything, or the pull-down style.
6. Command Hooks & Binder Clips
Adhesive hooks can used in your medicine cabinet to hold all sorts of tubes and pill packets — that is, if you clip binder clips onto your toothpaste, etc. And heck, it’ll also keep that tube from unrolling.
7. Back With Metal
If your medicine cabinet is metal, you can already get magnetic hooks to hang things on the back. If not, try cutting some thin magnetic metal sheets and fitting them to the back, door, and / or sides of your cabinet.
8. Hang Toothbrushes
Those small, clear Command hooks are ideal for mounting your toothbrushes on the cabinet door. Just put them sideways and your toothbrush should slide right in.
9. Make it Notable
If the inside of your cabinet is paintable, try using chalkboard or dry erase paint there. You can leave notes or morning reminders, mark the times medicines were taken, and jot down stuff you’re running out of.

Clear plastic canister, bins, and even glasses form the kitchen can hold all sorts of things in your medicine cabinet, and  you’ll always know what’s inside.
