If you’re anything like me, you get busy and things at home tend to get backed up — especially when it comes to cleaning. And then all of a sudden, it’s springtime and you realize you need to get your spring cleaning done. Who has time for that, anyway? Well, you do, because this spring cleaning checklist will only take you 2 hours.
1. Gather Dirty Laundry
Go from room to room and gather up any laundry items that need to be washed. Throw everything into a laundry basket, and start the cycle. Wash bedding, towels, etc. If it own’t fit all in one load, that’s okay. Start a load and set a timer for the duration of your wash cycle, then move onto the next task.
2. Gather Dirty Dishes
There may be dirty dishes in other rooms besides the kitchen. Gather them up and load the dishwasher.
3. Clean Countertops
While your dishwasher runs, wipe down all kitchen countertops and your backsplash with disinfecting wipes. Put away any food that out, and toss any expired food in the refrigerator.
4. Load the Dryer
Your washing machine should be done by now, so you can load the dryer and start it. If it’s not done, that’s okay — just load it after the following step. If you have another load waiting, start this one now and set the timer again.
5. Bathroom Surfaces
Spray down all the hard surfaces in your bathroom with your favorite bathroom cleaner. Including the tub, shower, toilet, and sink. Squirt toilet cleaner into the bowl and let it sit while you wipe everything down, then scrub the toilet. Rinse your tub / shower, empty the trash can into your kitchen garbage, and put in a new liner.
6. Tidy Shelves and Tables
Put all books back on their bookshelves, stack the mail wherever you keep it (file it if possible). and wipe off all your tables (end tables, coffee table, dining table, nightstands).
7. Sweep Hard Floors and Vacuum Carpets
All hard floors need to be swept and mopped, and all carpets should be vacuumed.
8. Load Dryer the 2nd Time
Now it’s time to load your second wash load into the dryer.
9. Trash Sweep
Grab a garbage bag and gather up all the trash from every room, then take it out to your outdoor can or dumpster. Re-line all garbage cans.
