What is pegboard?
You might think you know everything there is to know about pegboard already, but you might not. Pegboard is actually more than the stuff you see in home improvement stores, garages, and used for various store displays. There are variations!
- All pegboard has holes spaced an inch apart, but they aren’t all made the same way.
- Some pegboard is made of hard board, which is what you’ll mainly find at your local Home Depot. But pegboard also comes in metal and plastic varieties. If you search at Amazon, you’ll see what I mean.
- Contrary to what it might seem, plastic pegboard is at least as durable and sturdy as its hard board counterpart!
Ways to improve on pegboard
Many people are familiar with the pegboard hooks that sometimes come with it. Not only that, but they tend to be loose and fall out just when you don’t want them to. Thankfully, you can increase the stability of things you hang on your pegboard by using screws and washers.
You can also make pegboard look much prettier. Build a frame around it using corner blocks and trim. No nails are needed–you can put this together with a hot glue gun in a matter of minutes. Or buy a large frame you like, and cut a piece of pegboard to fit inside.
Pegboard can be painted in any color you like, so don’t be afraid to change it up from its normally white or brown hue.
How to pegboard helps with organization
Hang pegboard in your craft room to organize all your craft supplies. Use pegboard in the bathroom to organize your beauty supplies and cosmetics. Pegboard is also handy in a toy room.
